Help Bail Me Out for the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia Adoption Lock-In

Help Bail Me Out for the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia Adoption Lock-In

On September 18, I’m getting locked in a kennel, and I need your help to get out.

I’m participating in the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia’s annual Adoption Lock-In, where I’ll spend three hours inside a kennel with one of their adoptable animals while raising “bail money” for the shelter.

But for me, this fundraiser is about a lot more than spending a few hours in a kennel. The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia has been part of my life since I was six years old.

My Connection to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia

My history with HSNEGA goes way, way back.

When I was six years old, my family adopted a cat named Pebbles from the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. She was my first personal connection to the organization and one of my earliest experiences understanding just how special it is to give a shelter animal a home.

But my connection to HSNEGA didn’t stop there.

From fourth through eighth grade, I volunteered at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. While most kids my age were probably looking for any excuse not to have extra responsibilities, I genuinely loved getting to spend my time at the shelter.

I grew up seeing firsthand how much work goes into caring for these animals while they wait for their families.

Now, all these years later, I have the opportunity to support the same organization through NorthMetroEateries and hopefully use the community we’ve built to make an even bigger impact.

It feels pretty full circle.

Now I Need You to Help Bail Me Out

On September 18, I’ll head back to HSNEGA for their Adoption Lock-In, but this time they’re putting me inside the kennel.

For three hours, I’ll be hanging out with one of the shelter’s adoptable animals while trying to raise as much “bail money” as possible.

And that’s where I need your help.

I want to see how much our NorthMetroEateries community can raise for the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.

You don’t need to make a huge donation to make a difference. Give $5, $10, $25, $50, or whatever makes sense for you. When all of those donations come together, they can make a much bigger impact than any one of us could make alone.

And yes, every donation also gets me a little closer to making bail.

Where Your Donation Goes

The Adoption Lock-In is meant to be fun, but there’s a very real purpose behind it.

Every dollar raised helps the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia provide care for local animals in need, including medical care, food, shelter, and the resources they need while they wait for their forever homes.

I think back to six-year-old me bringing Pebbles home and how exciting it was to have this new member of our family.

There are animals sitting inside HSNEGA right now waiting for their version of that day.

Your donation helps make sure they’re cared for until it comes.

Can You Help Me Make Bail?

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia Adoption Lock-In takes place September 18 and 19, 2026 at the shelter in Gainesville, Georgia.

I’ll be participating on September 18, and my goal is simple: raise as much money as possible for HSNEGA before they let me out.

If you’ve ever enjoyed following NorthMetroEateries, found a new local restaurant because of us, used one of our itineraries, or simply want to support a great organization in our community, I would love to have you join me on this one.

Donate what you can. Send the fundraiser to a friend. Share it with your coworkers. Put it in the family group chat. Every single donation counts.

From adopting Pebbles when I was six, to volunteering at the shelter throughout elementary and middle school, to now getting “locked up” to raise money for them, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia has been part of my story for a long time.

Now I’m hoping we can help write the next chapter for some of the animals waiting there today.

Help bail me out and, more importantly, help give local animals the care and second chances they deserve.
