My Favorite Indian Restaurant in Duluth, GA: Desi Tadka + Their New Weekend Brunch Buffet

My Favorite Indian Restaurant in Duluth, GA: Desi Tadka + Their New Weekend Brunch Buffet

If you ask me where to get Indian food in Duluth, Georgia, I already know my answer: Desi Tadka.

Desi Tadka Indian Restaurant Duluth has been one of my favorite spots for Indian food in Gwinnett County, and I will stand by the fact that they have some of the best chicken tikka masala I have ever had.

Seriously, if tikka masala is on the table, I’m probably ordering it.

But now there’s another reason to add Desi Tadka to your list. They recently started a weekend brunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays with all-you-can-eat Indian food for less than $20 per person.

And this is not your average buffet.

A Weekend Indian Brunch Buffet in Duluth

If you’re someone who wants to try Indian food but never knows what to order, this might be one of the best ways to do it.

The weekend buffet gives you the chance to try a little bit of everything without committing to one entrée. There are both vegetarian and meat options, along with Indian snacks, desserts, and plenty of different flavors to explore.

I love this setup for anyone who is newer to Indian food because you can build your plate based on what looks good, go back for seconds of your favorites, and discover dishes you might not normally think to order.

It’s also a great option for groups when everyone has different preferences, especially with the mix of vegetarian and meat dishes.

You Have to Try the Build-Your-Own Pani Puri Bar

One of my favorite parts of the new buffet is the build-your-own pani puri bar.

Pani puri is a popular Indian street food made with crispy, hollow puris that you fill with flavorful ingredients and spiced water before eating the whole thing in one bite.

At Desi Tadka, you can build your own at the buffet, which makes the experience even more fun, especially if you have never tried pani puri before.

Along with the pani puri bar, you’ll find other Indian snacks and chaat-style bites to add to your plate. Desi Tadka already has an extensive chaat menu, including dishes like dahi puri, samosa chaat, bhel puri, papdi chaat and aloo tikki chaat, so this is absolutely a place to visit if you love Indian street food.

Save Room for Dessert

No matter how many trips you make through the buffet, save a little room for something sweet. Desi Tadka’s regular menu has plenty of Indian-inspired desserts to finish your meal, including ras malai, malai kulfi, gulab jamun with ice cream, hot gajar halva with ice cream, and even a gulab jamun crème brûlée. If you still have room after all that tikka masala and pani puri, dessert is definitely worth one more trip.

But Let's Talk About That Tikka Masala

As exciting as the new buffet is, I can't write about Desi Tadka without talking about my favorite dish.

Their chicken tikka masala is SO good.

It’s creamy, rich, packed with flavor and exactly the kind of meal that has you using your naan to get every last bit of sauce off the plate.

Pair it with basmati rice and naan, and I’m happy.

Even with an entire menu to choose from, this is one of those dishes I have a hard time not ordering every time I visit.

More Than Just Tikka Masala

If you want to branch out, Desi Tadka has a huge menu that goes well beyond the dishes you might already recognize.

You’ll find biryani, tandoori dishes, vegetarian curries, paneer, Indian street food, naan and other breads, plus Indo-Chinese dishes.

That variety is one of the reasons I keep recommending this restaurant. You can come in for something familiar like tikka masala and garlic naan, then slowly work your way through dishes you've never tried before.

And if you're vegetarian, you definitely won't feel like an afterthought here. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from both on the regular menu and as part of the weekend buffet.

Is Desi Tadka's Weekend Buffet Worth It?

For less than $20 for all-you-can-eat Indian food, I think this is such a fun weekend food find in Duluth.

You can try meat and vegetarian dishes, snack on Indian street food, make your own pani puri, sample different entrées and still finish with dessert.

It would be perfect for a weekend lunch with friends, a casual date, or even someone trying Indian food for the first time.

Just be warned: you may leave with a new obsession.

And if that obsession happens to be their tikka masala, welcome to the club.
