If there's one thing I will never turn down, it's an excuse to get another iced coffee. And if that excuse involves spending an entire day exploring local coffee shops? Even better.
Introducing the Caffeinated Chaos Crawl, a self-guided coffee adventure through Gainesville, Georgia, featuring four of my favorite local coffee spots and two optional stops for the 21+ crowd.
Whether you're planning a girls' day, looking for something different to do this weekend, or just really love coffee, I've got your plans covered.
And yes, there's an official coffee crawl passport involved.
Stop 1: Farmhouse Coffee
We're kicking things off at Farmhouse Coffee, where pumpkin season is a year-round celebration.
If you're the type of person who starts counting down to pumpkin spice season in July, you're going to love this place. Their pumpkin flavors aren't limited to fall, which means you can get your fix whenever the craving hits.
What I'd order: The Dirty Beauty Bar or Pumpkin Pie.
Stop 2: Boarding Pass Coffee
Next up, we're taking a little trip to Brazil without ever leaving Gainesville.
Boarding Pass Coffee has its own coffee farm in Brazil, where they grow their beans before roasting them in-house. I love that you can actually taste the story behind the coffee here.
While I'm normally a flavored iced latte kind of girl, this is one place where I'd recommend keeping it simple.
What I'd order: A drip coffee or pour-over to really appreciate the flavor and heritage of their beans.
Stop 3: Inman Perk Coffee
One of my favorite things about visiting local coffee shops is seeing what they've come up with for the season, and Inman Perk is a great place to do exactly that.
They have seasonal drinks throughout the year, and I'm always tempted to try something new rather than stick with my usual order.
If nothing immediately catches your eye, ask the barista what they're loving lately. Sometimes letting someone else make the decision is the best decision.
What I'd order: A seasonal special or the barista's recommendation.
Stop 4: Meadowlark Coffee
We're wrapping up the official coffee portion of the crawl at Meadowlark Coffee.
I have a very specific recommendation for this stop, and I'm not accepting substitutions.
Get the CarL.
Seriously, just trust me on this one. And when you order, tell them NorthMetroEateries sent you!
What I'd order: The CarL.
Bonus Round: Caffeine After Dark
Finished all four coffee stops and still looking for an excuse to stay out? I've got two optional bonus stops for the adults.
Because apparently my love for coffee extends to cocktails, too.
Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse & Tavern
If you know me, you know I love a good espresso martini. But my favorite way to order one is with a little twist.
At Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse & Tavern, ask for their espresso martini with Maker's Mark instead of vodka.
It's my go-to cocktail order, and the bourbon adds something special to the classic espresso martini.
What I'd order: Espresso Martini with Maker's Mark.
Consuelo
Last but definitely not least, we're stopping at Consuelo for what I consider one of the best Carajillos around.
If you've never had a Carajillo, it's a coffee cocktail, commonly made with espresso and Licor 43, and it's absolutely worth trying.
Consuelo's version is my favorite in the area and a pretty perfect way to wrap up a day dedicated to caffeine.
What I'd order: The Carajillo.
And please, grab some dinner or split a few appetizers while you're here. After all that exploring, you've definitely worked up an appetite.
Make It a Weekend Adventure
The best part about this Gainesville coffee crawl is that you can make it your own.
You don't have to drink six coffees in one day. Split drinks with your friends, order decaf when available, spread the stops across the weekend, and take your time enjoying each coffee shop.
It's about discovering local businesses, trying something new, and making a few memories along the way.
